Community Guidelines
These are our Community Guidelines for The Surveying Room – the community at the heart of Surveyors UK
Community Guidelines
đź’ś Our culture and values
The Surveying Room community, as part of the Surveyors UK platform, exists to bring surveyors, students, and professionals together to share ideas, support one another, and raise the profile of our profession.
This is a private, independent space built on trust, kindness, and respect.
We encourage healthy debate, open conversations, and different opinions, but we always keep things professional and polite.
đźš« Zero tolerance for bullying or harassment
We have zero tolerance for any form of bullying, harassment, discrimination, or abuse.
That includes sexist, racist, or derogatory language, personal attacks, or behaviour that makes others feel uncomfortable or excluded.
If this happens, your access will be removed immediately. No warnings, no second chances.
🤝 Be kind and professional
We’re here to connect, not compete.
Challenge ideas, not people. Listen, reply thoughtfully, and remember that tone matters.
Behind every post is a real person who deserves respect.
📣 No spam or self-promotion
This is a community, not a sales floor.
Please don’t use comments, messages or posts to promote your business, services, or products.
If you have something valuable to sell, do it in the right way through approved partner listings or relevant collaborations. We take a hard line on self-promotion.
Please email us to learn more at membership@surveyors-uk.com
đź’¬ Keep discussions useful and relevant
Posts should inform, inspire, or help others.
If it’s personal promotion, copy-paste content, or unrelated noise, it may be removed.
It’s fine to share opinions and experiences, that’s what makes conversations valuable, but stay constructive and keep it on topic.
Please do ask questions, get peer support and explore ideas.
⚖️ Professional advice and responsibility
The Surveying Room is a space for open discussion and peer-to-peer support.
Members may share experiences, examples, or guidance and insights, but nothing posted here should be considered formal professional advice.
Surveyors are regulated professionals and are responsible for ensuring that any advice, opinions, or information they give, both inside and outside of Surveyors UK and The Surveying Room, meet their professional and legal obligations.
Surveyors UK and The Surveying Room do not verify or endorse member posts, and neither the platform nor its moderators can accept responsibility for any actions taken as a result of discussions here.
If you need formal or project-specific advice, please contact a qualified professional directly.
This protects both you and the community, keeping discussions open, supportive, and compliant with professional standards. We do not want to hinder support and members should feel comfortable asking for support.
🧠Be honest
This community is built on trust.
If we discover that someone has joined under false information or is acting dishonestly, they’ll be removed.
đź”’ Respect privacy
Please do not share screenshots, personal details, or private messages outside The Surveying Room.
What’s said here stays here, unless the original poster gives permission.
🧰 Moderation
Our team and volunteer moderators will step in if a post or comment goes against these guidelines.
That might mean a gentle reminder, but repeated or serious issues will lead to a mute or removal.
These rules aren’t here to restrict you; they’re here to protect the community.
đź“© Reporting or feedback
If you ever see something that makes you uncomfortable or goes against these values, please let us know.
You can email info@surveyorsuk.com or message one of the admins directly.
We’ll review the issue and take appropriate action.
We also welcome feedback and ideas, if something feels off or could be improved, tell us.
This is your community, and we want it to feel like it.
Please note that these Community Guidelines may be updated over time as the community evolves.
