For surveying firms

Will AI recommend your surveying firm?

The way people find a surveyor is changing. People who once searched Google now ask AI tools like ChatGPT and Copilot to recommend a firm, or read the AI Overview Google puts at the top of its results. That AI answer is often the first and only thing they see.

AI names the firms whose websites state plainly what they do, where they work and what they charge. Vague sites, or firms absent from the directories and reviews AI checks, stay invisible. We help you with this.

What has changed in how people find a surveyor?

For twenty years, being found meant showing up on Google. A person typed “building surveyor near me”, scanned the results and clicked. That is being replaced by two new habits at once.

First, Google now places an AI-written answer, the AI Overview, at the top of many results pages, above the ordinary listings. It appears on a large and growing share of searches, a person cannot turn it off, and it is often the first thing they read.

Second, standalone AI assistants. A growing number of people now open ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or Perplexity and simply ask, “who is a good surveyor near me?”

How does an AI assistant decide which firm to name?

It reads. When an assistant such as ChatGPT is asked to recommend a local firm, it searches the web, checks directories, looks at reviews, and draws from the firm’s own website.

Your own website is the source that matters most. If your site states plainly what you do, where you work, what you charge and who your surveyors are, an AI can lift those facts and recommend you.

If your site says little, or contradicts itself, the AI cannot rely on you, and it favours a firm it can.

What makes a surveying firm invisible to AI?

Too Much Noise Vague Messaging No Real People

How AI cannot read your website

  • Pages stuffed with keywords and long town lists, which read as noise and bury the facts.
  • A homepage that opens with a slogan instead of saying plainly what the firm does and where it works.
  • Content not written the way people ask. Your pages should answer the exact questions a buyer would ask, in plain sentences, not vague service tags.
  • No FAQ section, so common questions go unanswered and AI has nothing clean to quote.
Why you are not trusted by AI

A firm AI cannot trust

  • Few reviews, or reviews an AI cannot find and read.
  • No presence on the independent directories and sites an AI checks to confirm a firm is real.
  • No mentions or links from other reputable sites, the signals that tell an AI your firm is known and credible.
