Every surveying firm turns work away

Surveyors UK

  • Business Development & Marketing
  • Property/Built Environment
  • Risk, Legal & Insurance

The enquiry is in the wrong postcode. It’s a specialism you don’t cover. Your diary is full until December. So you say sorry, wish them luck, and the client still has to find someone.

Nobody knows where they end up. Sometimes it’s a good firm down the road. Sometimes it’s nobody at all.

Almost every firm says the same thing. They’d happily pass the work on if they knew who to pass it to.

So we built the Surveyors UK referral network.

How it works

  • You get an enquiry you can’t take, so you post it to the network
  • It’s matched to member firms by region and specialism
  • Matching firms are notified and get in touch with you directly
  • You choose who to pass it to, and client details stay with you until you decide to share them
  • There are no referral fees between firms. It runs on goodwill and reciprocity, the way the best of the profession already works

Why not just a WhatsApp group?

Plenty of firms already pass work around on WhatsApp, and those groups are great. Quick, friendly, easy.

The trouble is that posts get buried. A referral goes up, the thread moves on, and unless you saw it at the time, you’d never know it was there. And when someone does reply, there’s no quick way of knowing who they are or whether they’re the right fit.

The referral network solves both.

  • Referrals go straight to the matched firms, so nothing gets lost in a thread
  • When a firm responds, you can check their profile and directory listing straight away, so you can do your due diligence there and then
  • You can see every referral you’ve passed on and every one you’ve received, with your reasons noted
  • We track it too, so the network stays fair and active
  • It’s all confidential, and other members can’t see your activity
  • It’s simply a way of passing work on. One that doesn’t vanish when someone leaves the chat.

I can’t promise how much work will come through it. Nobody honestly could. What I can tell you is that it gets more useful with every firm that joins.

Your AI visibility report

More and more people now ask ChatGPT, Gemini and other AI tools to recommend a surveyor. Those tools rely on what they can find and understand on your website.

Every member firm gets an AI visibility report. It looks at your site and sets out what needs work to improve your visibility in AI search, with clear, practical recommendations you can act on.

Why now

In the last three weeks, 20 firms have joined Surveyors UK as members. Residential, commercial and geospatial, from across the country. More are joining every week.

Until now, membership has been by waitlist. From today, it’s open to every firm.

What you get from £35 a month

  • The referral network
  • Your AI visibility report
  • A firm profile and directory listing
  • A place in the firm members’ group in The Surveying Room
  • Partner discounts

There’s more to come as we roll out new features over the coming months.

Membership is open to all firms, whatever your accreditation or professional body. Surveyors UK is independent. We sit outside the profession and exist to support it.

P.S. Thank you to everyone who came to say hello at the Residential Surveying Expo and the RICS Residential Property Conference this week. My jaw is still recovering!
