The business formerly known as Legal & General Surveying Services has unveiled its new brand identity, Westmarq, as it enters the next stage of growth.
The new identity brings together established surveying expertise with technology, data and a more forward-looking approach to lending, helping lenders access clearer property insight and make faster, more confident decisions.
Legal & General Surveying Services changed ownership in December 2025 and has now unveiled its new brand identity as Westmarq, marking the next phase of development as it continues to grow its position as a specialist surveying partner to lenders. For lenders, the change represents an enhanced proposition: established surveying expertise combined with stronger technology, data and property intelligence to support decisions across the lending journey.
The new brand brings together the strength and credibility of an established surveying business with a modern approach to delivering property intelligence, as used within the lending process. The business will give lenders access to more relevant insight, greater consistency and a clearer basis for selecting the right valuation approach for each case.
Its tagline, “The marq of intelligent lending decisions,” reflects the role Westmarq aims to play in helping lenders make smarter, faster and more confident lending decisions through a combination of experienced professional judgement, technology and data. The aim is to help lenders improve decision quality and efficiency without compromising the professional judgement required for more complex properties and cases.
The choice of name reflects that proposition. “West” is directional and intentional, representing trust, stability and strong foundations, while “marq” conveys quality and assurance. The distinctive “q” introduces a more contemporary element, reflecting a business that is prepared to challenge established ways of working and invest in new technology and more responsive approaches.
Westmarq has retained the core expertise that has been crucial to the business for more than 50 years, while continuing to develop the technology and data capabilities that support its surveying teams. Lenders will continue to benefit from the same technical expertise and relationship-led service, supported by enhanced tools and insight.
The business manages c376,000 valuations annually and employs over 100 RICS-qualified surveyors, whilst curating and managing panel of qualified third-party surveying firms.
Richard Sexton, managing director of Westmarq, said: “Westmarq represents where we are going, rather than simply where we have been.
“We have a strong foundation of experienced surveyors, established lender relationships and deep technical expertise. We are doing is building on that foundation, combining it with better data, technology and a clear focus on the decisions our clients need to make
“Property lending is changing. The volume and quality of data available to lenders is increasing, technology is becoming more sophisticated and the properties being assessed are not always straightforward. The answer is not to choose between technology and expertise. It is to use both intelligently.
“That is what Westmarq stands for. We want to help lenders make better decisions, faster, while retaining the professional judgement and quality that complex lending requires.
The rebrand follows the change in ownership of the surveying business and forms part of its wider growth plans.
Westmarq continues to provide valuation, surveying and digital reporting services to lenders, supported by its Property Decision Engine and wider data, audit and risk management capabilities. Together, these capabilities are designed to help lenders choose an appropriate valuation route, strengthen oversight and make more informed property risk decisions.
The business was one of the first valuation firms to develop desktop valuations in 2017 and has continued to invest in technology designed to help determine the most appropriate valuation route for individual cases. This supports lenders in applying the right balance of automation, data and physical inspection according to the characteristics and complexity of each property.
The new identity is now being introduced across Westmarq’s internal communications and external points of contact, with the full retirement of the legacy brand happening by late October.
